Thanks Phil. Yes, there is a reduction in hard edged artifact, but there's no softening of the sound, which is a pretty neat trick if you can pull it off. If anything the details in recordings are easier to pick up on now - production effects, rhythmical cues, playing nuances, all are laid out to be heard. They were always there, just not as apparent to me as they are now. So what I really meant to say when I said more analogue, was that I felt that the sound took me closer to the recording event, to the original analogue. Now, over the weekend I had the opportunity to show the SBooster (lid off) to a very experienced electronic engineering friend, and his comment was "it looks to be some kind of low pass filter". Which, considering that the Touch has a cheap SMPS PSU(read that as inexpensive and electrically noisy) is just what's needed to remove the shit from the DC. Anyway, my experience with the SBooster has been largely positive, although the longer than normal late night listening sessions are beginning to take their toll, and I might have to invest in some matchsticks to keep my eyelids open.
