Ok here goes!

So originally on saturday I posted that I couldn't hear a difference
between the modded and unmodded touch both connected to my Little Dot
MkV headphone amp (solid state amp) and into Sennheiser HD650s, however
yesterday I could (more later) - I believe the reasons I couldn't hear
the difference was

- Tiredness - had a been a long and tiring day!
- Background noise - bit more background noise then usual
- Listening approach - I was listening to one song then switching
between inputs every few seconds expecting to hear a big difference
- Expection - Last time I did sometihng like this (comparing a Touch
and a Duet) the difference in SQ was very obvious

Last night however I could hear a difference - I changed approach and
listened to a passage of a song 30secs to a min then changed to the
other input, then back again, my thoughts below

- Difference isn't massive and obvious as the Senns generally sound
great, there is however an improvement
- The main thing in terms of the headphones for me was that the
unmodded touch (UMT) sound seemed to be be more removed and from the
top of my forehead to the bottom of my chin whereas the modded touch
(MT) seemed to be a lot closer and also covering more of my head, wider
and fuller sound - going back to the UMT sounded slightly flat but only
when I had listened to a decent amount of a track.
- The MT sounded a lot more musical, I found myself tapping along a lot
more and generally enjoying the MT, more engaging - songs like Massive
Attacks Angel and Intertia Creeps definately highlight this
- On closer listen detail has improved, instruments and vocals sounding
better, examples include Adeles rolling in the deep and Norah Jones
Sunrise
- I agree with guido re: the highs - I often found a lot of songs quite
harsh/shrill with the Senns, the MT seemed to soften these, a good
example for me was MJ's - Remember the time and also the guitar on the
start of Jack Johnsons - Better Together
- Not all songs showed a difference, Deep Purples Space Truckin'
sounded pretty much the same on both versions.

To summarise I think it was similar to one of those puzzles where you
see a face in a drawing, once you see it then its obvious and you
notice it everytime, the mods were a bit like that for me!

I'll be trying again this week before I remove the UMT back to the
living room, but will be keeping the MT for my headphone setup - the
only problem I have is that I like having the screen on for rating
tracks, not sure what to do on that really....
