Glad things are improving for you!

My personal experience trying to figure out differences in SQ has been
that I need to listen for quite a long time to a variety of different
music that I'm very familiar with. Only then can I make some sense of
such differences, if any exist. In other words, initially I listen for
the -gestalt- of the music: overall does it sound more like unamplified
music by live musicians in a real space? Only afterward, I focus on
things like timbre, tonal balance, clean bass, soundstage, etc.

Perhaps not surprisingly, I found the same to work for me in getting
used to the sound of different concert hall. When I moved from the
University of Illinois to the University of Maryland, it took me a
couple of concert performances to fully appreciate how much worse the
sound of DC's Kennedy Center was to that of Urbana's Krannert Center.
(Kennedy Center got a little better after the renovation some time
back). Had I been magically transported (blindfolded) from one place to
the other and made to listen for 30-second (or even 10-minute) snippets
of the same music played by the same payers, I doubt very much I could
have perceived any difference at all.

As for TT, either 2.0 or 3.0, I would encourage you, if at all
financially feasible, to use an iPad or other controller so you can
disable the Touch screen. I was initially skeptical that it would make
any difference, but found that Klaus was right: every aspect of his
mods contributes to the improvements.

Above all, keep enjoying the music!
