I can recommend the Benchmark DAC-1 HDR. Lots of functionality (high performance DAC, custom ALPS potentiometer, 3 SPDIF coax inputs, 1 SPDIF optical input, plug-and-play USB audio, input jitter elimination, pre with RCA input, RCA and balanced output, headphone amp with two outputs...and yes a remote!) No complaints about the sound, I've stopped worrying about that end of the system.
