In my opinion it shouldn't matter. If you hear a "fundamental" difference in detail (without putting more emphasis on hights), a wider soundstage, maybe a bit more control in bass - then it seams to fit.
Any good recording will do... I listen to the Moon DAC 100 - which was great - but it got it's details from putting more empahsis on hights. This was not what I was searching for. On my list to test is the Peachtree DAC IT. Unfortnatelly I cannot listen to the Rega DAC because there is a problem with the distributor in Switzerland.
