The buffer has been at 3400 since TT 2.0, because it sounds better there. You know it does, but you tune your system to your taste and listening level by increasing it, only to once again move away from true 'improved sound'. Why not try moving your speakers out away from the wall a few more inches if you need to reduce the bass?
