I guess I'm just a bit lazy. My preamp's volume control is remotely operated, but it does not allow very precise setting unless one is willing to get up and turn the knob manually. Then one sits down, only to find that it'd be nice if the music were just a tiny bit louder (or softer). Then one gets up again . . .
