Side by side testing: A- SBooster BOTW - SBT - TT3.0 - default prio buffer 20k - modified Draka Ethernet B- factory SBT - factory PSU - low cost Ethernet cable both synced, connected to D-Link ethernet switch, digital out to V-DAC 2, LMS 7.7.0 with FLAC decoding on server. Very instructive to switch quickly between setups without having to reboot and resume listening from start. Helps to get fresher cognitive memory of what you have heared. Result? ........ +1 for those who argue that all hw and sw mods on the transport have little or no impact when played through an external DAC. If there was a difference this was in the very fine details but nothing compared to changing speaker position for instance. Anytime I found something better on tweaked SBT, I came back to factory SBT and noticed it was also there. Now listening to factory SBT while writing and still enjoying music soundstage, details, tonal balance and so on. This will hopefully put an end for me to the nightmare of the endless (and sleepless) tweaking quest of the holy graal of the perfect sound and finally let me enjoy the music.
