I can't tell you how many times I've listened to a new piece of gear
(amp, headphones, etc.) or a remaster of a classic album and I think to
my self "wow, this is great...I never noticed (fill in the blank)
before".  It might be an instrument that seems clearer, more punch in
the bass region, clearer highs, etc.

Then I'll pull out the older equipemnt or older CD version and have and
compare.  9 times out of 10, what impressed me will still be there and
impress me.  It's just that I was listening closely when I was trying
out something new.
