Hi everyone, I've been wondering this for awhile... Is there any point in downloading 24-bit hi-res music IF the music is already significantly dynamically compressed?
For example, I bought a couple recent HDTracks releases and ran them through the DR meter in Foobar. Ringo Starr - Ringo 2012 ==> DR10 Joe Walsh - Analog Man ==> DR7 I guess DR10 isn't too bad but DR7 is pretty low on the dynamic range totem pole. Neither of which utilizes anywhere close to the dynamic range potential in 24-bits... As a comparison, CD's from the late 1980's to early 90's routinely had DR12-15. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Archimago's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2207 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96723 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
