Show me an abstract of this extensive testing by AES / EBU. Here's a link to an AES presentation from 2009. http://www.music.mcgill.ca/~hockman/documents/Pras_presentation2009.pdf As you see, "trained listeners" cannot differentiate 256kbps+ p>.05 in that study (although they also say "experts" could which I'm not clear what is meant from the data). It talks about a 2007 Sutherland paper about CD vs. 320kbps but I can't find the abstract on line at the moment. Not saying I like MP3 by any means, just that here's an example of a technique which throws out tons of samples and creates quite a lot of variance in the audio signal, yet human perception is mostly UNABLE to detect the difference (not "mostly right"). If this is the case with MP3, what hope is there in detecting jitter unless the equipment is essentially malfunctioning? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Archimago's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2207 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96407 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
