Now after this is some older news and some discussion was raised due to it i want to mention one thing that comes up with this discussion regulary "I need 384kHz because i can hear harmonics" There are many people claiming to hear "harmonics" Their applied logic is that you need frequencies above your hearing played to fully enjoy the lower harmonics you can hear. Therefore a system with tweeters and amps going well above 20kHz is essential.
People claiming this don´t let count that all these lower harmonics that may be created by an instrument are already perfectly captured inside the recording in the contend below 20kHz. Worse even! Imagine your system really creates lower harmonics from higher harmonics on playback. You now have pretty much garbage on playback, namely the lower harmonics already deep inside the recording and played back + the newly created ones. So it wouldn´t surprise me when in reality the less content you play back that is out of your normal hearing range the better the playback is. We don´t listen an instrument that interacts with the enviroment - we listen what is captured already of the interaction with the enviroment. I hope this makes sense, sorry for my weird english with this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wombat's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4113 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98044
