Apart from the fact that 24/192+ strains system components (unnecessarily) and could worsen metrics like noise floor and dynamic range (demonstrated in my ASUS Essence One measurements), this issue with nonlinearity causing intermodulation distortion IMO is a BIG negative against 24/192. Those warble WAV samples are good to try. I have yet to hear a system with zero nonlinearities (don't even know if it's possible); all just a matter of degree of distortion.
