I really don't understand. 

How is it that relatively informed people could NOT agree with this
statement?  I'm not taking a position here on MP3 vs lossless vs hi-res,
just noting that it is blindingly obvious that properly controlled
testing is the only way to determine what is TRUE about our capacity to
hear and appreciate (as in understand) differences among these
conditions.
