I'm not sure that the writers and editors of the various high end audio magazines fail to see the error of their ways. I think that it's more of something like "whatever pays the bills" as in if the magazine raves about the wonders of $500 USB cables or $1,000 Ethernet cables then the cable manufacturers will continue to pay for advertising but if the magazine were to tell the truth about these over priced pieces of audio jewelry then those cable manufacturers would no longer advertise in the magazine.
