Just in case anyone misinterprets your post as meaning that the TDA1541 isn't capable of oversampling, let's just be clear that it can be used in "normal" oversampling DACs. Its max input bitrate allows for up to 4x oversampling, and it was used in a large number of classic highly regarded CD players (eg. Marantz CD94, Meridian 207). Nothing wrong with the TDA1541 when used correctly.
