One reason I can think of for doing all the DSP, i.e. room correction and the processing required for each speaker driver, is that it could result in one less processing stage and remain a truly all in one system. I guess to go truly "outside the box" of traditional audio instead of the system being designed and built by one manufacturer, ideally the system would be a partnership between several different manufacturers, each with their own area of expertise. One to handle the DSP and maybe the DAC, another to do the amplification and a third for the speaker drivers. Why not dream big?
