I'm halfway trough the video now , took a little music pause :) But are not those Revels developed with Floyd's experience and knowledge in their DNA they are part of Harman .
I think he's not alone in thinking in these power responses over the room or what you may call it ( similar arguments comes from other designers too ). But the very rigorous and company and product spanning implementation is impressive . Two things I got thinking about " you can't fix this with EQ " that correlates my own room EQ system that does not operate above 300hz for similar reasons . You can't mess up the direct sound to much . You can basically make good things better with DRC but not fix already broken stuff . The conclusion that we can hear "trough the room" , IE home audio can still be meaningful without absolute perfection in room design . And a very good rundown on the effects of sighted testing . The speakers of the future is not coming from some garage operation that's for sure , you must measure and quantify these things. Not build bizarre single speaker horns by virtue of throwing components into the air and build a fancy box for major $$$ Wonder how distortion in speakers is going to be diminished in the future ? They all distorts quite audible on realistic levels . Returning to hear the rest of the lecture , wonder what he has to tell about active speakers.... -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
