No problem. Actually, as one who for a long time subscribed to the idea
that the best preamp is no preamp, I was surprised that either the
DSPeaker alone or the DSPeaker plus Benchmark DAC sounded inferior to
the (inexpensive) Little Dot Mk III, later replaced with the Mk9. In
spite of which, when placed *after* DAC and preamp, the DSPeaker appears
to be quite transparent to my ears, as you note, even though it has to
perform both an AD as well as a DA conversion. Anyway, the DSPeaker
still performs one preamp function, that of controlling channel balance,
as the Little Dot has no balance knob.
