I'm not saying the PSaudio DAC does this - I don't know but it is wise to test the Regen on a DAC which doesn't do this & then test it on the PSaudio DAC with digital lens technology.
This is what ASRCs (asynchronous Sample Rate Converter) do - they improve jittery inputs up to a certain level but with very low jitter inputs they tend to diminish the sound.
