81 GB is the size of the file if it were 16/44. If it was 24/96 it would be 3 times larger, and if it was 24/192 it would be 6 times larger. You correctly observe that storage is very cheap these days. The problem with large files is the time it takes to process them. For example, have you ever loaded an 81 GB file onto a flash drive?
