Unfortunately I am not a gnome user and don't know anything about gnome.
Only I can say, somewhere in the gdm script, mount(8) is invoked and it
seems mis-interpret /etc/mtab or something. I don't know where it is.
If you can find which process invokes mount(8), then we can see how it
passes the mount options and maybe find a solution for it.
