The /cow directory is not visible in the aufs / file system, and /etc/mtab also does not show /cow or /dev/loop1 (where /cow is mounted before aufs is started on bootup). I can go into more detail on how /cow is mounted if you are unfamiliar with it... The sysfs aufs entries do show /cow as 'br0'. I tried telling aufs to remount as ro and del:/cow, but that doesn't seem to have any affect (and there are no warning messages in 'dmesg').
