Brian and Richard,

Billy and Dave were friends of mine also, and of John as well, as evidenced by
his sensitive article in a previous issue about the enormous contribution of
Bill to the NZ gliding movement, and in particular to Omarama.
Personally I have been waiting for a report on this apparent mid air break up.
Have not most glider pilots, indeed?
If Gliding International is the first publication to have the report, well good
on John and his team!
I think that John Roake is perfectly entitled to advise Australian Gliding
membership of this very welcome report.
I read John’s post before I read yours, and was in no way offended that he was
using the deaths of respected NZ glider pilots to promote his magazine.
John, just be realistic. It is impossible to not offend someone if you have a
commercial interest and choose to post on the often petty Aus Soaring site! I
suspect that Bernard Eccy would agree.

Regards
Bob Ward

John,

I notice that you are using the death of two of my friends to market your
magazine.

Nice touch.
