You can compare the display brightness, contrast, resolution etc on
www.phonearena.com

It's a good site to chose an new Android. I bought a google/LG NEXUS 5x last
month. Great phone. Very bright.

My Sony would not charge when it got hot, so no good. I have been using a Dell
streak 5 for the last year or so. That too is good but old and unavailable now.

Just tested my Telstra 4GX Buzz Android phone

readable with brightness turned to max.

About a 5" screen. There is a tradeoff between
screen size, backlight capability and power
consumption. You may be better off with a smaller
screen that has more contrast.
