There were three fatal gliding accidents in one or two years in the early sixties. Besides the R3 crash which was witnessed by several pilots at Narromine the SCGC Kingfisher flown by Mike Taylor seems to have spun in near Balladoran while on a cross country flight. The only witness was, I understand, a stockman whos description of the accident appeared to be of a spin. The third accident happened when the pilot did a down wind "beat up" in a Grunau with the intention of landing off a stall turn. Unfortunately he spun in.
