Well, you're way out of line then on what the FAA think in the US and most 
of the other countries with significant recreational aviation feel the same 
as the FAA or are moving more and more towards it.

There's no justification for ANY medical for an RPL and if AOPA has its way 
that's how it will be.

Self-certification.  No more than a driving licence.  RPL holders won't be 
flying the public around and they won't be doing it in anything very heavy 
and they probably won't be doing it near many people.

Besides, the accident statistics show that RPL holders die in the air quite 
often but its more what they do with their hands and brains than the 
condition of their heart.  As I understand it, a medical of any sort isn't 
justified.

Actually, I suspect most of the DAMEs know this.

Do you really want the freedom to fly responsibly?  Then accept 
self-certification.
