Regrettably Yes.

There has been a fatality involving a Bendigo Gliding club member. The Accident was attended by Kevin Olerhead and is subject to a coroners investigation.

I do not want to pre-empt anything but some information of interest.
2 x Astir 77's in close company flying home after a long weekend meeting between the BGC and Grampians Soaring club which met at Boort. The intended track home was Boort Raywood. The day was difficult with weak broken climbs (2-3 knots) to 3000' an occasional tops to 3800'.

The deceased pilot was performing his first real cross country and was heard to be struggling to maintain contact at the bottom of lift with the other glider. It does not appear that an attempt to outland was made. Impact destroyed the glider and looks to be right wing/nose impact at high energy.

It is not helpful to speculate and there will be a full report in the fullness of time.
Anyone wanting more information can contact me off list.

man died in a glider sccident in the same area today.

Anybody know any more?
