The Renmark club used a Tiger Moth for towing for several years. (before my time unfortunately) They had to change when they go their first fibreglass glider... it was "not satisfactory". I'm not sure exactly why, possibly too slow. > This then leads on to the question, if an aircraft is able to be fitted > with a hook, how does one work out the engine power requirement? Renmark now has a 160 hp Pawnee: it tows about as fast as the Super Dimona that was at Waikerie for the clubclass this year (about 100 hp I think). I guess a Pawnee has that much more drag of its own. I would regards those as lower limits... so a 180 hp C150 sounds pretty good. -- Pete Siddall Renmark Gliding Club, etc _______________________________________________ Aus-soaring mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.internode.on.net/mailman/listinfo/aus-soaring
