I understand that when logger trace download first started, there was
discussion about the 'ownership' of individual pilot traces, and what
distribution was appropriate (for on screen maggot racing for example).
Some really serious pilots worried their intellectual advantage might become
public property, and some up & coming pilots thought this would be a good
thing (virtual coaching).

If I remember right, the upshot was to ask pilots at contests to state they
were happy for their traces to be public domain information, to enable
dissemination as is undertaken above.
