What do you mean starting to. Been using the local (SA) BOM data for years.

One thing to be aware of is the update rates for the free service.  Some so called 
AWS's are only updated 4 times per day on the web site. Some reports on those pages 
require someone to get out of bed an record the weather still.

There are 10 minute per update pages available for each state for selected locations.

Been using this service for voice over IP weather reports and weather beacon 
broadcasts 
on the amateur radio network for a very long time. Without even being on the internet 
I can 
obtain a 4 day weather forecast or current local weather very easily.
