I remember seeing a video put together by VMFG with some B&W footage of Fred Hoinville attempting to fly a Plank. Looked pretty interesting...
A year or two ago Roger Druce still had some copies at Bacchus.

I think if you were to get in touch with Alan Patching or his son Ian, you will find a wealth of knowledge regarding the Flying Plank. Alan Ash's book Gliding in Australia also has a couple of pages (140 - 141) on the subject with a photo taken at Moorabin in 1957 where Fred Hoinville conducted test flights with Jack Iggulden, Reg Todhunter and Alan Patching observing.

I am researching the history of the Flying Plank in Australia. Does anyone have any recollections of Planks flying or being built? What about Planks in thge USA or other countries. Would anyone have a set of plans, construction drawings or construction notes?
