Do you think incandescent globes don't use energy in manufacture too? I changed to CFL lamp throughout my house 2 years ago. With all lights on I now draw about 100w, compared to 500w+ with incandescent, an energy saving factor of 5, so a lot of energy would need to go into manufacture to exceed this! Not one has failed as yet, where I was replacing normal globes once a year, each taking energy to make!
