There is general consensus amongst climate scientists about global climate
change, but the flat earther's are always with us.
Do you think incandescent globes don't use energy in manufacture too?
I changed to CFL lamp throughout my house 2 years ago. With all lights on I
now draw about 100w, compared to 500w+ with incandescent, an energy saving
factor of 5, so a lot of energy would need to go into manufacture to exceed
this! Not one has failed as yet, where I was replacing normal globes once a
year, each taking energy to make!

Consensus has nothing to do with science and with a little work you
can find many very reputable atmospheric scientists, geologists and
others in related fields who don't believe the "consensus", such as
it is. There is little doubt that the global climate is changing. It
always does. What is uncertain is what causes it and whether human
beings are having any measurable effect. It may not even be possible
to answer that last question.
For your edification look up "Wegman Report". It's a start. You might
also spend some time at www.climateaudit.org . These are the guys who
broke the "hockey stick" as confirmed by Wegman. Warwick Hughes has
some good links also. www.warwickhughes.com
When you get to the ice core data you'll find some very dodgy "science" indeed.

note the author is a fan of CFL.
