The Forester GT has a detuned WRX engine and made a very good towing
platform, very flexible and economical 10.5 Lts/100km with the trailer on
behind, normally 8.5 Lts/100Km - I had one for 5 years.

I now have an XT Forester - that will keep up with a WRX in a strait line,
and while the platform is very good the engine gear box combination and
works very well as a touring car with the glider on behind there is a lot
more gear changing than the GT (not as flexible at highway speeds) and uses
12.5 lts/100km, normally about 9 Lts/100km.

Only last week two fellow glider pilots who were passengers on the way to
Perisher Valley and both assessed the XT as the perfect glider pilot
vehicle.

Same power, more weight and worse fuel economy. Great. So the WRX will
blow the doors off of that too!

Yeah. Cost me a whole $6 per month more than my previous normally
aspirated car. Dammit, now I can't afford that kidney machine for grandma.
