Have already had a good browse through the condor forums and asked a few
questions. It is certainly the place to start, everyone's very helpful.
Have also thought about trackIR, although I see there being a problem with you
sitting inside a cockpit while the outside view moves around. Would rather
have a nice wide view, again much like the BGA sim.
Like you said, a lot has already been invented. I dont intend on doing it all
again :-)

The BGA recently launched a Condor based sim.
There are some mad keen enthusiasts, spending more time simming and building
sims, when they could (in my opinion) just be doing the real thing, though
weather and costs may be a factor.
An opensource version of TrackIR that just requires a few cap mounted LED's
and a generic webcam will get you (apparently very good) head tracking, so you
can turn your head and have a look at the wingtip etc. (find the apps name and
then youtube it.)
Then there are interfaces, for turning an lcd into an operating instrument
panel (just add suitable looking hard overlay for a real look)
I'm sure in some aspects you would like to design and create your own
systems, but there are a fair few wheels out there that have already been
invented. If only I had more time...

The sim is apromotion and training tool and will be avaliable for clubs for
use as such. Rather that having it tucked in a shed somewhere, I want to see
it at events such as air shows, with people queueing up to have a go! I cant
think of a better recruitment tool!
