My understanding is that head on collisions are rare, and that the  
majority of collisions are in turns, side on and in peripheral areas.

Also, there has been a lot of talk on the list about visibility of  
lights. My question - is this head on or peripheral.

Peripheral vision can only see movement. Movement and flashing lights  
are far easier to see.

So I wonder if the discussion regarding flashing lights being less  
visible is actual accurate.

Also, much of the testing suggested in the list discussion anecdotal  
testing - it could be that people are comparing if something is  
visible or not suggests they would be looking straight forward.

Visual testing of peripheral vision is very difficult to do, at  
Melbourne University we used to build very sophisticated systems to  
test user responses.

So... I have no answers but maybe some more questions :-)
