G'day all,

The below story is still correct (except that Dad was 2nd by 70points), my only
addition to it was that the reason why Dad initially thought he may've cleaned
up is because his WinPilot was incorrect, and nothing to do with the scorer (if
it was taken that way)! Dads speed was actually 92km/hr off the stick..

The scorer, who I think, working with the webmaster did a sensational job.
This comp has been the first in Australia that I can recall that has had the
*.igc traces available for download each day - Nice work guys!

I didn't mention the WinPilot fault in the below e-mail as I'm all for
WinPilot. 9 times out of 10 in my experience, the speeds and data are accurate
:).. doh!

Sorry for any offence to the scorer, if any at all was taken.

WPP

P.s. Jo, would you be able to write something to the group about what was going
through your head, and how you made that massive decision?! I think many of us
could learn from it if we were to be in that same situation in future comps.

Just spoke to Dad, sounds like it was an interesting day to finish up
on.

Blue, windy and generally ordinary conditions..

After the task was completed, Dad and Georgo met. The conversation
was, how fast did you go?! Dad's response was "98km/hr", Georgo responded, "oh
well, congratulations, you got me. 93km/hr"..

Later that night at prize giving, the daily results were called out.

        "3rd, Georgo"...

        "2nd, Robert Hart"...

        ...

"and 1st place for the day goes to... Bill Hatfield!"

Dad and Georgo look over at each other, throw their hands up in the air
and expressions of something like "well bugger me!"..

The CD then moved onto the final winners presentation, "Congratulations
Georgo, you've won Performance Class".

Dad said he's speach was short and sweet, but told at how he was
totally surprised by the result! Dad was 2nd by 40something points, well done
Dad.

        ----

I believe Jo had an eventful day as well. Dad tells me that she almost
landed out near Tara, decided to make a re-start at 13:45 (I think, maybe later
too), and managed to pull off a Day win to clean up Club Class.
Congratulations Jo!! Guess that decision came down to 'do I want to have a
chance at winning, or loose and stay on task?'

Well, seeing as when ever a ASG29 wins, 'someone' basically says "it's
the ASG29, it is soooo much better than the V2, thats why it won". So it must
mean that the Shark is better than the V2 :( hahaha

        Congrats Georgo and Jo!

        WPP
