I was required to provide a police check for a volunteer organisation recently. 
Interest died instantly.
My wife was also asked by an organisation she has done voluntary work for, for 
many years. Instant resignation.
It really has begun to go too far when you feel your reputation has to be 
impugned in areas where the risks are minimal.
No problems with it in a (very) few areas though.

  Sorry Bernard, I'm not sufficiently interested in this pc bullshit (good for 
beaurocrats and harmless to paedophiles) to bother until the arm twisting 
begins. I already have to do this in the UK as an instructor and in the NT as a 
registered teacher. Dunno about NZ yet, I'll find out when I get there in 
December. Dont be so helpful...it only encourages the b....'s. (beaurocrats?).
