ACM 12.2 MOTIONS FROM THE EXECUTIVE

ACM 12.2.1 MOTION 1 (Page 81 Second Round Papers)

"That the following clause be added to the Council Regulations under the heading "Executive" -

The tenure of the office-bearers of the Council in accordance with Article 17(a) (ii) and 42(a) shall not exceed five (5)

years except in the case of the Immediate Past President whose term shall be limited to one (I) year, this being the first

year of the succeeding President's term, and in the case of the Executive Vice-President whose term shall, in the

normal course, be limited to one (I) year this being the last year of the existing President's term or otherwise as

Council may determine. The Council may extend the period which an Executive member normally subject to a five

(5) year limit may hold office by two (2) years, to a total of seven (7) consecutive years where exceptional

circumstances are seen to exist. Any such vote shall require a majority of a least 75% of the members of Council to be

passed."

The changes to the Articles of Association adopted at the Annual General Meeting gave to Council the power to set

the term of office for GFA officer-bearers.

After deliberating the above motion it was the consensus of Council that the Executive motion be withdrawn, leaving

those positions relative to Executive office-bearers subject to annual election.

However it was considered appropriate that limitations be placed on the term of office of the President and the

Immediate Past President.
