Presumably they knew about this and had a sealed system.

Anyway there'll be lots of extra mercury around with the low light(sorry, energy) light bulbs that the political cretins are foisting on us.

Wouldn't want any of that liquid metal stuff going near the metal pushrods or fittings. Mecrucy does unpleasant things to aviation alloys.
If he had a prang, cleaning up the liquid mercury might be fun.

And isn't pumping mercury around a bit OTT anyway?
