Depends on how much drag is generated by the jet installation with engines extended. 600 feet in just over a minute after brake release sounds exactly right. The engins burn around 0.8 liters a minute each so you'll get to 1700 feet for about 4.8 liters of fuel. You'll be at 100 knots so the pull up back to thermalling speed will get you to 2000 feet. Oh yes, jet gliders will be fun to fly! AMT jets now have a larger version of the engines Allen is using. 40Kg thrust instead of 23.5Kg. Only 17mm greater diameter and 11mm longer and cost is only slightly higher than 3 of the smaller engines. For those of you that don't know, Allen has been working on a project for the last year (I think, someone correct me if need be) of putting three jets on an ASW20. He has it mounted in a sort of triangle configuration above and behind the canopy, with the middle jet being fixed, and the two side jets hide-away. > > I've seen it run, but not fly, and I can say, even not moving it is rather impressive. The acceleration rate was excellent and everything he hoped for with the aircraft lifting off around the taxi way. This was followed by a clean run close to the ground to a safe speed where he then went into an impressive climb and I mean impressive. Unfortunately at 600ft the climb was aborted due to fuel supply issues and Allen did an uneventful modified circuit. > From full power start of roll to 600ft was 1min 04 sec.
