Robert,
Allegedly so.
I've been talking to Tim about this.
The approved secure FRs all operate as a barograph and log a file
even when there's no GPS signal. If the device in question does this
there's no problem as calibration is as easy as with a secure FR. If
it doesn't log a file in the absence of GPS signals then it gets more
difficult and the device will need to still output serial data that
can be logged externally. This involves more complication with a PDA
or small PC in the pressure chamber or a sealed connector in the wall
of the chamber or a GPS source either simulated or real.
Pity the IGC couldn't get smart and allow GPS altitude with
appropriate error bands. Other FAI airsports convert any pressure
altitudes to geometric for record purposes anyway and GPS would do
this nicely. I've given up on the sport's official bodies ever doing
anything smart though as the sport contracts and fades into
irrelevance as a minor footnote in the history of aviation.

Bear in mind also that these "Position Recorders" are intended to
replace only cameras, and that in most cases a calibrated barograph

Tim
there are quite a few GPS units that include a pressure sensor for
altitude as opposed to relying on GPS altitude (eg the Garmin Geko,
FLARM etc). Will it be possible to get these calibrated (under the
same rules as other loggers) and use them as "barographs"?
