Hi all,

I understand that when refinishing a gelcoat wing it is desirable to remove all
old gelcoat prior to painting or re-gelcoating in order to avoid cracking in
remnants of the old gelcoat. But what about refinishing painted wings? Is it
necessary to remove all the old paint prior to repainting? Is it
possible/desirable to, say apply filler over spar depressions/flat spots
without removing the underlying paint? Why?

Cheers, Ben
