Instead of being judgemental, we should be appreciative, no matter with what or whom we share the air with. We have something in common! Yes, PG's don't have that blue handle, RA-Aus flying gadgets would fold up mid air where our normal sailplanes would just feel a 'bumb'... It does not matter what someone else is into - this is like the pedestrian, motorbike, car and truck debate: who owns the road? Big brothers (such as CASA) will have to intervene and impose rules, regulations and consequently restrictions if we don't find a way of getting along with each other and keep kicking sand into each others faces. No big deal for me to be aware when I am fenging on the ridge at 120knots that there could be hang gliders and paragliders - I fly accordingly and make space. Same for parachutes: most operations I know of have quite strict limitiations where they can drop. It takes about 15-16 minutes from take off to drop in a Caravan - that's like a train system. And what's more: the only place parachutes can and will go is towards the center of the earth. Whoever gets surprised by that fact should do a more elaborate 'O' in CHAOTIC. If we (sailplane pilots) adopt the attitude of acceptance and co-operation - others will adopt eventually. Yes, there will always be the cowboys - but the Darwin Award is waiting for them. .. Erich
