This in itself would not have precluded me competing, but the cumulative affect of this, plus glider freight costs, uncertainty/inability to source insurance, and the total cost became prohibitive for both myself and Allan. Tobi and Craig can rent locally and thus Club Class is much more viable, albeit still expensive for each individual. Suspect that the Standard Class comp will be dominated by the fully funded teams and perhaps locals. I wish the organizers and all competitors a very successful competition, especially the Australian team in Club and World class, who will each make significant personal sacrifices to compete on our behalf, whatever class they fly in.
