The K6 units work very well together so it's pretty much plug and play. We use a Nexus 7 tablet with Bluetooth running XcSoar, which works very well for those of us who's advancing age mean we need a large screen. The Nexus 7 has built in GPS as well, so you have a portable unit. Nexus 7 can be purchased in JB Hi FI or online, you only need the basic unit with 16GB, which last time I looked was circa $300. Very readable in direct sunlight and providing its charged before flight and connected to glider battery via a USB power connection (we use the one that came with the LX Nano, which we use as a backup logger) it will last a full day easily. The Nexus 7 includes Wifi so you can upload your trace direct from the Nexus without requiring a laptop and you can also download maps, turn points, weather etc. So pretty much independent of other computing needs, especially as SeeYou now runs on Android. One of my new ASH 31 Mi customers wants a low cost flight computer that features a backlit moving map display and allows the running of XCSoar software. The screen should be a bit larger than a normal PDA and if possible he would like to integrate Flarm and an IGC approved data logger. Any advice on the latest available low cost options would be greatly appreciated.
