HA,

There was a flying dog in Sydney a few years ago, at Cooks Terrace.

A paraglider pilot was walking towards the takeoff with his canopy
inflated just as a car with a dog in the back arrived at the site.
Cooks Terrace is a dog park, almost abandoned by dogless humans. One
of those places where you spend all your time looking downwards and
still manage to tread in last night's Pal, hopefully not in bare feet.
The runoff on a rainy day runs down to the local beach.

Anyway, the dog owners reached over the seat and undid the door. The
dog bolted off over the hill and ran towards the paraglider pilot who
was just about to step off into space. And so did the dog, snapping at
his heels.

After a short flying career, the dog landed on the sand below. The
bizarre side of the story is that a vet was walking on the beach below
and was unable to resuscitate the unfortunate dog.
