Thank you. I think this is an important change of yours. Most software, and this includes the MUA i maintain (there to be fixed in v14.9) and the Roff i'll maintain in the future, does this wrong. In order to be able to extend iconv(3) to be really human language (as opposed to character set, so to say) compatible it is crucial that iconv(3) can linger. I even think it wouldn't be wrong to assert that it is a design error that iconv_close(3) doesn't also require an output buffer, and i'm hoping that this recommendation of the standard will be adapted in the forthcoming years. --steffen
