To agree with https://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=1808#c6764, that (the
ambiguities) were part of why on OpenBSD we did -l and -L, documented
currently as:

     -L      List the system variables that can be used with the getconf
             utility that require a pathname argument.

     -l      List the system variables that can be used with the getconf
             utility without a pathname argument.

So, there's existing practice for that.
